Locust Pose – Salabasana

Posted in Yoga Asanas

Locust Pose is one I like to do when my body feels like it is tightening up. When paired with some other spine stretching, body twisting poses, it can be a nice full body stretch. It is also a great stress relieving pose. Here’s how it goes…

Lie on your stomach and rest your forehead on the floor. Seperate your feet hip-width apart and bring your arms by your side. Now raise your head, chest, arms and legs with your inhale. Reach your head and toes away from each other.

Hold the pose and take slow, deep breaths. With your exhale, lower back to mat. Locust Pose is a great beginning pose to start building up your strength and endurance.

This pose is used to strengthen spine, legs, and arms. It will also massage the abdominal organs and aide in digestion.
